Garbage

The garbage stickers are $3.25 at the Township office; there is an upcharge at the grocery stores. You can purchase stickers at the office during office hours, or mail a request with a check enclosed, and we will mail stickers to you.

Put the sticker on a garbage bag and put it on the curb on Monday/Tuesday morning (call to find out which day is your pickup day). You can put a garbage can out with the bag inside, but put the sticker on top of the bag so the garbage-pickup workers can see it.

Pickup days & Locations:

  • Garbage pickup is on Monday and Tuesday per the routes provided below; there is no Monday holiday (Memorial Day and Labor Day). If so, then sanitation pickup occurs one day late for each day. If a holiday falls during the week, check the website calendar for dates.
  • Monday: East M-69 and all side roads. Runkle Lake area, West Harrison Ave, Odgers Location, Carpenter Mine Rd., Tobin Location, US 2, Bible Camp Rd., Idlewild Rd., and Long Lake area.
  • Tuesday: New Bristol Location, Lind District, Hwy. 141 North to Light Lake area, Warner Mine Rd., Gibson Lake area, Swan Lake area, and Paint River Rd.

Recycling

Crystal Falls Township has recycling on the first Wednesday of each month from 7:00 AM-3:00 PM. Plastic bags (black trash or yard, white garbage or grocery store bags, or clear recyclable bags) are NOT acceptable to recycle and should NOT be put into the Township recycling bins.

Drop off items behind the Township Hall building. An attendant will assist you with your items. Items do not need to be separated before you drop them off.

Accepted Items for Recycling

  • Plastic
    • Only plastics with a #1 or #2 located on the bottom of the plastic bottles or jugs. Look on bottom of plastic for recyclable number.
    • Opening must be smaller than the bottom of the container.
    • All containers must be rinsed clean.
    • Remove all lids and caps.
  • Glass
    • Bottles must be rinsed clean.
    • Remove all lids and caps.
  • Cans
    • Cans must be rinsed clean.
    • It is not necessary to remove labels.
  • Paper and Cardboard
    • Books, card-stock, cartons, envelopes, newspaper, magazines, and paper.

Non-Accepted / Trash Items

  • Plastics
    • Do not recycle any plastic bottles with codes #3 or #7. No motor oil or antifreeze containers. No pesticide or herbicide containers. No cooking oil bottles, microwave containers, yogurt or cheese containers, Styrofoam, or plastic caps or lids. No medical containers. No plastic bags, containers, buckets or banding.
  • Glass
    • Do not recycle lids, caps, drinking glass, ceramic, clay dishes, ovenware, opaque glass, lab glass, windows or windshield glass.
  • Cans
    • Do not recycle aerosol cans, paint cans, pot or pans, car parts, nails, screws, metal rods, or small appliances.
  • Trash
    • The following are examples of household trash and cannot be recycled. Bathroom wastepaper (Facial and toilet), any color carbon paper, cellophane, cloth, cork, foil, food waste, window glass, metal, packaging materials, recording tape, wax coated cardboard and wax coated items (like candy wrappers, cups, fiberboard, labels, label packaging sheets, napkins, photographs, slides, transparencies).

Spring Clean-up

On a Saturday in the spring, Crystal Falls Township will have a Spring Clean-up from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Accepted items include small furniture, small appliances, old clothing, small pieces of wood (4ft or less), items that do not fit into bags, and any non-hazardous waste.

Items not accepted: no yard waste (grass clippings/leaves/branches, no tires, no refrigerators/freezers, no items marked as hazardous (stains, insecticides, oil, etc.), no batteries, no fluorescent light bulbs, no free liquid.

Fall Clean-up

On a Saturday in October, Crystal Falls Township will have a Fall Clean-up from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. You can view more information about the Fall Clean-up (PDF).
